St. John’s Lutheran Church is a place for all people, where we experience and share God’s love with the world.
We are grounded and growing in Christ and a Reconciling in Christ congregation.
Our core values:
St. John’s was found in 1928 when the English and Swedish congregations merged Grace and Zion to form St. John’s Lutheran Church. Founded as one of the earliest Lutheran churches in western Illinois, our founders gave us a strong vision of a faith community that is actively engaged in the broader Quad Cities.
The church continues to be active in the local community. St. John’s operates the Little Free Food Pantry where members of the neighborhood are welcome to come take food and toiletries they need for themselves and their families.
St. John’s has also partnered with the Palomares Social Justice Center to create the Catalyst Kitchen, a certified commercial kitchen where entrepreneurs looking to start or expand their food businesses can work while they build funds to open their own restaurant or kitchen.
In addition, nearly 20 community organizations and businesses regularly use St. John’s as a place to host meetings, fundraisers and concerts including the Keystone Neighborhood Association, Narcotics Anonymous, Two Rivers Tai Chi and Quad Cities Flues Unlimited.
St. John’s celebrates Holy Communion on Sundays at 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. during the fall, winter and spring, with Christian Education for all ages at 9:30 a.m.
Memorial Day through Labor Day, St. John’s changes to its summer schedule of 9:30 a.m. Holy Communion service with a coffee hour following at 10:30 a.m.
We would love to have you join us at an upcoming service. Please check out our Committees page to see how you can get involved with our community.
